Four generations of the Cummings family have been producing the highest quality Hardwoods available. In 1929, Lee Cummings started a steam powered circular sawmill in Troy. At the time, there was no electricity and train handled shipping, and most logging was done with horses. Hard work, honesty and integrity were the rule, not the exception, as it is today at Cummings Lumber.Cummings Lumber Co. Inc., headquartered in Troy, Pa., operates a modern bandmill with an optimizing edger and band resaw. The company, under the direction of Roy Cummings Jr., manufactures 10 million board feet annually. All grade lumber is kiln dried using steam generation on site. Company foresters take great care to protect not only the environment, but landowners as well. The company believes in building strong, long lasting relationships with customers, employees and friends. Shipping is handled by truck, flatbed or container to all parts of the world. “We do not just look for a quick sale,” Roy said. “We build relationships with our customers that will help both of us grow over the long term.” Today, Roy Cummings Jr. runs Cummings Lumber with the same principles of honesty, integrity and hard work that his grandfather, Lee, brought to the company in 1929.
